My teaching experience dates back to 2013, where I first began tutoring local junior high students for the summer band program. I have been teaching private lessons and studying how to be a better educator ever since. My private home studio has been running for over 3 years now. Singing helps build structure and it helps with discipline as well while being full filling and enjoyable to children. With adults, I do the same with song choices and allow them to select songs that are in their range, as I select songs that will help expand their range, stamina and push them a little without straining. i have students from ages 6 and up. While fairly new to teaching private lessons, I have taught musicians I have played with and other family members, friends, and others. I have encouraged everyone I have taught practical uses of the instrument that relates the music theory found in specific genres to more comprehensible techniques to use on the guitar. A doctoral candidate in violin performance, I have performed throughout the US and Europe. I hold a Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan, an Artist Diploma from the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University, where I also taught as an adjunct faculty member for violin and viola university students. Playing alongside classical artists such as Lynn Harrell, Robert McDuffie, Gil Shaham and Stefan Jackiw, I have also been invited to perform with Michael Buble, the Osmonds, and most recently with The Killers on Jimmy Kimmel Live. For this reason I always start with students by asking them their goals and what music they get excited about. After these things are identified I then get right into the music.
