I began teaching 17 years ago while completing my Master of Arts degree in Voice Performance.I have passion for teaching students of all ages the fundamentals of singing. These include breathing, posture, and mouth position.These fundamentals stand students in good stead to sing whatever style they choose for the rest of their lives. Soprano, Amanda W. is recently graduated from Bowling GreenState University with her Master's in Vocal Performance. For her undergrad, she attended Eastern Michigan University and received her Bachelor's in Vocal Performance. She attended the Utah Vocal Arts academy over the summer of 2017. For the summer of 2016, she was given a tuition scholarship by the American Institute of Musical Studies to study in Graz, Austria. During the years 2015-2016, she was a young artist with the Pittsfield Opera Theatre and sang with the Dixboro United Methodist Chancellor Choir. Read More

I believe that in order to effectively teach, one must also do. My extensive performance background allows me to read a student to see what their goals might be and custom fit a curriculum around them. Sometimes a method book is the right way to go. Books such as the Alfred series and Hal Leonard often offer easily attainable goals for younger students. However, it is always important to listen to one's students to find out what music makes them passionate and make sure to weave that into the practice of good technique, and theory. Read More

I like to use "Piano Adventures by Faber". Also I  teach music theory and ear training. My students musical interests are important to me. I try to find materials that they will enjoy playing. Children must be thought not what to think but how to think. I ask my students to try to find the answer themselves not always giving them the answer.    Read More

Helping someone learn how to open up their voice and sing is a joyful experience. Every lesson includes a warm-up for the voice and a series of breathing and vocal exercises. that build skills and technique. The time spent on each part of the lesson varies from student to student to help them make progress. I am a caring and compassionate vocal music teacher and I teach to intermediate level piano and theory as well. I believe music is for everybody and should be explored. I particularly focus on vocal health in my lessons. I have sung in a local opera company as well as in countless weddings and funerals.
