I am a flutist, teacher and performer. I want to share my love for music and playing the flute, with all my students and audiences. I have a Bachelor and Master of Music degree and many years of performance and teaching. I continue to seek out coaching from respected professional flutists, because I feel that the better I play, the better I teach. I perform as a member of a flute ensemble. Read More

For children, I do not use books or complicate bibliography to teach. I encourage children to discover music through their own curiosity. Using historical imagery and references of the natural world that surrounds us, is very effective way to help children understand music. Art contains emotion and intellect, so, my intention is that the kids explore that knowledge in a fun and joyful way. For adults, the teaching process is more focus to expand their abilities. I have been teaching in the States for about 9 years. It is a pleasure for me to hear my students progress from their first steps as timid, first-time players to confident and more musically mature young musicians. My students participate in a monthly MDML recital and an annual music test organized by the MMTA. I believe performing for others is a good way for students to grow into their roles as musicians and to acquire a sense of accomplishment. Read More

I have over twenty years of experience in teaching public classes and private lessons. I have a great joy in discovering breakthrough moments where everybody can work together towards achieving their personal goals. Though it is true that every person is unique and different, it is always great where folks can get together and share the love that is music whether that be performing or simply sharing a tune with a loved one or neighbor. In 1995, I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. From February 2000 through June 2014, I have been a church organist at United Methodist Church in Romeo, MI, where I've only continued to learn about music. Read More

While fairly new to teaching private lessons, I have taught musicians I have played with and other family members, friends, and others. I have encouraged everyone I have taught practical uses of the instrument that relates the music theory found in specific genres to more comprehensible techniques to use on the guitar. I take popular songs that are familiar to the student, and use the songwriting to help show the practicality and musical nature of theory. Read More

Outside of teaching, I perform with the bluegrass band Mad Dogg and the Strays and the accordion & guitar duo Everything but the Polka. I’ve also written music for short films, theater productions, and comedy projects. As a teacher, my goal is to meet you where you are and build lessons that match your learning style and interests. I love helping students discover their unique musical voice—whether that’s through learning their favorite songs, improving technique, or writing original music. Read More
