I'm a music lover and theatre geek and I love teaching students of all ages! I started playing flute at the age of 8 and I haven't stopped! Flute is my passion along with Ukulele and Singing! I have been in many different bands including concert band, symphonic band, wind symphony, marching band, plus pit band and other competitive bands! I've played at weddings and Christmas parties and I love all types of music! I have done many exciting things including Blue Lake and a music class at Walt Disney World!
I've taught lessons on and off for four years now! I took private lessons for years and I taught lessons in high school to other students! Regular lessons were an essential part for me when I was learning how to play flute and to continue to help me develop and grow! I believe that anyone can play an instrument, no matter what their age is! I believe that doing not only scales and warm-up's but to also incorporate new, recent music that the student enjoys will help them improve and continue to enjoy lessons!
For beginner's I tend to start with lesson books, especially Hal Leonard's Essential Elements because that's what I learned from! I move up from there and like to teach lessons from all different types of genre's and also teach different techniques such as vibrato, jazz flute, etc. Scales and warm-up's are an essential part of every lesson and I always do them no matter what age student I am teaching! I will ask for the student's feedback and make sure that I am giving them the best possible lessons and helping them reach their goals!
I like to start out my first lesson with each student by making a goal chart and uncovering the student's needs and goals and then go from there! I also like to make a lesson plan to help them along the way! I also make sure that my students are comfortable and not pushed too far out of their comfort zones! My favorite part of teaching lessons is helping students of all ages! I love to teach my students in a way that makes them excited to come to their next lesson and have them discover the same love for music that I have!
