I have been teaching since 1998. I love making music fun for my students, while requiring students to learn fundamentals such as music theory and vocal health. My curriculum is largely up to my student, I write custom excercises as well as reenforce musical notation through transcription of the student's favorite music. Being classically trained I place a heavy importance on technique and the physical attributes of playing string instruments. My goal is to give my students the ability to self assess. They should be able to feel when they are singing correctly, without me always pointing it out. They learn these skills through scales, basic anatomy and physiology, physical exercises, visualization etc. I am kind, patient, supportive, and always do my best to uplift my students. I have always had an eclectic love for all things music, and enthusiastically share it with anyone who will have me! There was a piano in my house growing up and I couldn't stay away. In school, I studied oboe and bassoon. Eventually I just explored any instrument that caught my interest- guitar, trumpet, ocarinas, panflutes, etc. I spent a lot of time doing musical theatre, and studied voice for a time as well. Teaching is something that I have always done, in addition to performing. I incorporate fundamentals and musicality with every student, but each student learns differently and has different goals. I do not have a set curriculum, I gear the study to the student, what the student needs and wants to accomplish. I encourage students to perform in some way, either on a solo recital of in a chamber ensemble. I hold annual recitals and online students also participate in recitals, if they choose. Read More
