I ask students to keep a journal of their goals and practice time focus so we can measure how we're working to our goal. For beginning students I usually start with Essential Elements 2000 for strings because it helps them get familiarized with the notes on the music staff even when they don't have any music theory knowledge. I also like to use Suzuki as they progress with the instrument and know the essentials like how to hold the instrument properly and how to hold the bow properly. Suzuki is also for beginners but it has a little more complex exercises which is why I wait to introduce Suzuki to them. Read More

My methods of teaching vary depending on the age and skill level of the student. If the student is very young, I start them on simple exercises Designed by me. As they progress, I begin to implement certain books that Ive used in my career. There are three books I use religiously, Stick Control Ted Reeds syncopation book and N.A.R.D snare drum studies.
