I began teaching as a Freshman in college and had a few students throughout college. Since graduating I have added students. I have taught over 10 students in the last 5 years and am adding more almost every week. I have the ages 7 to 45 and am open to teaching anyone. My main goal in these lessons is making sure the student is learning what they want to learn and also having fun.
My approach is to create a positive learning environment for the student and teacher. I focus on the student's individual strengths and asses his or her room for growth, and then balance their growth against honing their strengths. This creates an environment in which the student walks away from each lesson feeling proud and successful, but still feels a need to continue working towards a goal. Most importantly, the goal of any music lesson should be about making beautiful music, first and foremost! I also focus not just on the physicality of playing (breathing, posture, facility, dexterity, embouchure etc.), but also on the mental game as well (how it feels, how to mentally approach a difficult passage, etc.). Most importantly, I provide all of my students with the tools needed to succeed in the absence of a private teacher. I teach them how to self-asses their playing, break down difficult passages, and diagnose their own weaknesses in their own playing. This allows them to continue working towards success even when they're not with their private teacher. Success looks different for everyone! So whether you are looking to pick up an instrument for your own personal enjoyment, you're auditioning for high school/college music programs, or you're looking to become a professional musician, your success is determined by your desire and ability to reach your goals. My passion as a music teacher comes from the feeling of pure pride and joy when my students reach that goal.
As long as I have been playing ive been teaching. I actually surpassed my music teachers in elementary middle and high school and taught myself much of what I know through materials avialable to me at the school. I taught my recorder teacher how read and play the alto recorder and read bass clef. From then I had multiple teaching oppotunities such as youth groups, adult worship bands and private lessons. I telll anybody who is serious about learning music and instruments that time put in is a key component of succeeding while having fun at the same time. My goal is to teach according to my students needs, everybody is unique and learns in their own way. I teach people of all ages and lookfard to exploring the music word with you.
For beginning students, I will usually switch off between music they like and a violin solo book like Suzuki or Solos for Young Violinists by Barbara Barber. Balancing these two can help the student not only enjoy the learning process but I have also learned that it helps them to learn at a much greater pace. Making good habits when first starting is essential to playing at the advanced level and I will be keen on identifying and fixing bad habits. I try to keep lessons fun and engaging by holding a high level of energy and enthusiasm.

Our kids love Mr. Lynwood. Mr. Lynwood is very patient and skillful teaching our kids both music theory and guitar/piano. He keeps them engaged and motivated during their lessons and we are seeing -or rather hearing- fast improvement in the kids' dexterity playing their respective instruments. We would recommend this good natured instructor to anybody.

My son enjoys his viola lesson each week with Martina. She is disciplined in her approach to teaching but always makes my son's learning experience enjoyable. She knows how to challenge him and develop excellent form. Martina is always punctual and professional. We both highly recommend her as an instructor.

"Mr. Richard has been absolutely perfect for our very active two boys. He has been an excellent fit for gauging and keeping their interest far beyond what we had imagined. Our boys actually argue over who gets to go first. Mr. Richard knocks it out of the park when it comes to exceeding our expectations"

My daughter, Valarie is one of the original members of the Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble under the guidance of Aaron. He patiently worked with Valarie as well as the other five members individually and as a group to produce music that has been shared and enjoyed locally as well as nationally. He has the ability to seek out the strengths of each student while building confidence. Through his teachings, not only had Valarie learned how to produce and enjoy music, but also responsibility and so many life skills for everyday living.

Noel is amazing. She is helping me to work toward my vocal goals for auditions to several musical theaters. She has helped me choose strong audition pieces and is teaching excellent ways to get the sound I need in a safe and healthy way. She works outside our lessons on new warm ups and new music pieces. She is the best.

Angela is a phenomenal teacher. She is full of charisma and is a joy to work with. Most of my experience with her has been focused on working in the Alexander Technique and she seems very knowledgeable in this study. I would highly recommend her to any prospective student. I have seen myself improve dramatically in a few short weeks with her guidance (and much practice of course!)

My daughter has been taking piano lessons through her school district program for the last two years. She had learned a lot in that class but I noticed that she needed advanced classes at this point. After reviewing several websites I decided to enroll my daughter for the trial at MUSIKA. We got Mrs. Veronica B., and I am more than happy we got her as my daughter's teacher. Mrs. Veronica B. was very professional and very knowledgeable at the trial day. She was able to assess my daughter skill's level, and then she was able to give suggestions about how to improve those skills. My daughter has taken 5 classes with Mrs. Barker, and I can see she enjoys each class and she's improved a lot since day one. I can picture my daughter playing her favorites songs on the piano very soon!!! :-)

Travis is the greatest. He knows his music and how to teach it. He gives you time to learn, but will not allow student time to get lazy. I know he teaches all age groups. Young pre-teens to us old folks 78 years young. I have been taking lessons from him since early December 2014. He is a true professional. You can't go wrong with him.

"My daughter has been a student with Mark for over a year. She has come so far and has learned so much in such a short time. Mark is extremely talented and knowledgeable. He is very serious, patient and super nice. If your child or if you really WANT to learn the drums, then I highly recommend Mark. He is our third instructor and the best one yet! You will not be disappointed." Michelle S.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
