Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

After receiving an Arts Leadership certificate from Eastman in addition to my BM, I am a huge advocate for music in society and believe it is a universal language that anyone should have access to, no matter age, ability, etc. I want my students to feel empowered and believe that they have a place in the world of music, because there is room for everyone! I encourage them to find their voice and use the confidence they develop through singing to forward themselves in other endeavors, musical or otherwise. Read More

I am aware of the many people that have a great desire to learn about music. I view it as a language. Once you are able to read write and speak (singing or playing) you are fluent in music. I graduated from the Eastman School of music in 1977 and have played in several bands and sung in a multitude of singing groups during my life. I have taught music in all its forms for 40 years. My teaching experience began with teaching trumpet and guitar lessons early on during my undergraduate degree, roughly 6 years ago. Since then I have encouraged the students I have had while my focus has been on performing. After finishing my studies, I have worked as a Chorus teacher working with both the band director and all of the students in the music program for their various needs. This included specific instruction to the students who were more invested in their musical skill development, instrument repair of the brass instruments, direction of the three choirs with daily rehearsals and assisting with beginner band lessons. I was also able to volunteer and teach in Chicago music institutions such as the Merit School of Music and Sistema Ravinia. Helping students at all stages of life and development has been inexplicably rewarding to me, as I got to explore all facets of music whether it be playing technique, musical artistry, ensemble work, and much more! I hope to continue to learn from further interactions with the diverse community of musicians everywhere I go! Read More

Some of them are for example; Gariboldi execerses and Trevor Wye along with several books with simple flute solos for beginners. For more advanced students there is also i wide variety of Etude books such as Kohler etudes or Anderson studies. I use as well as solos up to level 6 from various Baroque, Classical, 2oth century Composers for flute. Read More
