I have also participated in ensemble performances under the direction of the following: Carlo Domeniconi, Dusan Bogdanovic, Frank Wallace, Eduardo Martin, John Zevos, Jose Lezcano, and Jim Chesebrough. I tend to emphasize theory as well as playing when Im teaching my students because learning music is more effective when supported by theory. Learning a musical indtrument requires a high level of concentration to learn and understand the music, and to memorize and perform it, so it can be helpful for students with other learnings or activities. For beginning students on saxophone, I typically start with fundamentals like Sound production with long tones, embouchure exercises, A Tune A Day by C. Paul Herfurth. Once the student as progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce repertoire across several genre of music as well appropriate for their first recital performance. I teach students how to play, as well as, read music.  I teach a variety of techniques and styles of music using books and making up lessons for my students.  I teach my students at any age how to play the set, along with snare drum techniques, and play with songs.
