I like to keep a relaxed environment when teaching. Nothing is more disappointing to me than when I hear that somebody has decided to give up music because they had a bad experience with a teacher. As a teacher I am here to support, encourage, and have fun! The last thing I want to do I be an intimidating teacher, and have my student dread lessons. Music is all about having fun, and expressing oneself. Read More

Instruments: Piano Guitar

I teach beginner piano, and also guitar, all ages and levels. My approach is for you to experience playing music as something enjoyable, something you like, and that you look forward to learning more about. Teaching and learning music is fun for me so I try to balance the fun with learning the basics! For young students my approach is about patience, positive reinforcement, moving at the right pace, staying upbeat and focused through a lesson, and reinforcing the key parts. Read More

After the first lesson, I will break up lessons into warmups (stretches and fretboard exercises), the study of repertoire (learning melodies and chords), and the relevant technique (scales, picking approaches, etc) for which the music calls. Time spent discussing theory will likely emerge from the teaching of the song, but can be approached with a variable level of depth - students less interested in theory will still come away from a lesson with some awareness of what's making the music work; students more interested in theory are welcomed to dig deeper - with the awareness that theory may function as a useful tool to understand a piece of music, or even generate new material, but that the end-goal, ultimately, is to produce a piece of music; not a theorem. I want my students to have fun and be able to be inspired to learn and create. I know that everyone learns their way and I do believe myself accommodating and understanding. Learning to read, write, and play music is essentially learning another language and having taught languages for several years, I know people move at different paces. I encourage my students to maintain a detailed practice log, and to explore and create during daily practices whilst also working towards goals established during our sessions. Read More

For piano I prefer the Faber series. I like to include scales, sight-reading, and repertoire of the students choosing and of my suggestion. For Voice I like to cover the anatomical fundamentals (posture, breath, phonation, and depending on age), in the first lesson, and each lesson includes a warm-up as well as at least one piece of repertoire of the students choosing. For guitar I teach note reading as well as tablature, but we mostly work from tablature, unless the student is studying classical. Read More

I instruct with a very comprehensive, personal  style of teaching. I focus on the complete student,by Practical Technique,Ear Training,Sight Reading,Music Theory and Composition. I think the only way to truly discover the intrinsic beauty and creativity of music is in Multilateral approach. I also take into account the individuality of each student, their musical heritage, educational background, physical and mental abilities and tailor each lesson accordingly. Read More

I have been a career educator since 1998, when I began teaching in a high school and founded a music program. I am sure I have taught literally thousands of students. I have prepared students to go on study music at the college level. Now I have my own private school and am working with Musika. I take a lot of inspiration from the teachers that I have had over the course of my own life and at times find it important to study with great masters of the musical arts! Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
