I enjoy sharing my musical knowledge to students so they will advance in their musical aims. In 1983, I attended The Guitar Institute of Technology and studied privately with Frank Gambale, who formalized the single line "sweep technique" on guitar. While in L.A. I also studied with Ed Mann, longtime Frank Zappa percussionist and teacher at Cal. Arts. In Boston, I became assistant to George Russell on the revision of his 1953 copyrighted and published book "The Lydian Chromatic Concept Of Tonal Organization" released in 2001. Read More

Each student learns at their own pace. Though I do have a consistent method for teaching, I first like to see what a student's level of playing and understanding of music is before we move forward so I can see where the student needs improvement. Although we will work on fundamentals, I work with students so that my lessons can be fun, educational, inspiring, and suited for each student's needs. Read More

Along with my texts, these materials offer a gateway to learning to read and play in standard, that is, staff, notation. In addition I have numerous popular songs and rock songs which I have set to tablature and standard notation. So, I would take young students through the early stages of my method, supplemented by these other materials. For students, young and adult, who have progressed beyond the fundamentals, I would make available and seek materials to follow their desired musical style(s). Read More

I've been teaching for 10+ years now. I work mostly with beginner to intermediate adults and particularly enjoy someone discovering they can learn an instrument later in life. I love helping someone learn their first song as much as helping them work their way up to a holy grail song. I've helped a mother play a classical piece to accompany her son at a recital. I've helped someone finally nail the songs they spent 50 years trying to play well. Read More

Are you interested in learning to play the guitar and want an enjoyable experience that will get you playing songs quickly and with a lot of joy? As a self taught player I have struggled with the how/when/what to practice and finally decided why I was learning to play the guitar. My personal goal is to always improve, but the main reason I play the guitar is for the sheer enjoyment of it as well as producing sounds/songs that I find enjoyable (and if listeners enjoy it that is just a bonus). I love sharing music. It is probably our greatest gift as human beings, and the most fun activity. I run my own music camp and love nature. I have performed in jazz, folk, rock and original music bands as a first call session player and arranger. I also lead my own original music bands. I graduated Berklee undergrad in 2005 and have taught all levels and ages since then. I came back to the US to attend the first Master's Program at Berklee College of Music and I love sharing my knowledge with both beginners and advance musicians. Read More

Most lessons will be fairly laid back with alot of talk and examples, but not so much of a focus on playing styles. I won't be practicing a song with you over and over again, top to bottom. That's your job at home. When you and I are together we'll be doing a bit of jamming, and alot of analyzing. We're going to learn notes, chords, keys, scales, modes, harmony, melody, improvisation & composition. Read More
