I want students to have fun as much as I do with music.

I began teaching private guitar lessons while I was still in high-school.  After I completed my degree at Berklee in 2004, I began teaching six days a week.  Since then, I've consistently maintained a roster of 30-40 weekly students in addition an active gig-schedule.  Seeing students gain a love and understanding of music and do things that they never thought possible has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.  Over the years, I've honed my methodolgy for approaching a wide variety of techniques and subjects, from the best way to practice a simple melody, to advanced jazz improvisation.  My years of experience has allowed me focus on what works for a particular type of students and eliminate what doesn't.

One of the greatest joys of teachingis to see that lightbulb go on when my students really start to pick things up and the excitement they getin seeing and hearing their own musical growth! I like to have my students set realistic goals for themselves which help to inspire them when they meet a goal with flying colors! Myteaching methods involve basic theory, sight reading, ear training, picking techniques, and many other aspects. I specialize in finger style guitar therfore i like to spend a small portion introducing students to different kinds of picking techniques. Ialsoexplore improvisation and song structure concepts in variousdifferent styles of music. I like to dedicate a portion of the end of the lesson time to something the student has really wanted to learn that week; like a specific song, lick, or concept . Hope to hear from you, thanks!

Hi! My name is Ashley and I am passionate about teaching music! Growing up, I was big into Musical Theatre, but I also had an older brother who really got me into rock music. I made my professional theatre debut in the 7th grade, and my career took off from there! I pursued a degree in Musical Theatre, and went on to "pound the pavement" in New York City, as they say, working in various facets and degrees of the musical theatre industry. Missing home and nature, I moved back to Massachusetts and took up teaching. I began teaching students in-home, prior to purchasing my baby grand piano which I currently use in my studio today! I went back to school to obtain my Masters of Music in Music Education, and continued to perform but this time in rock bands! I am currently in three rock bands, Rocket Queen (A tribute to Guns N' Roses), NOTB (a tribute to Iron Maiden), and NIB (a tribute to Black Sabbath). In my free time I enjoy performing showtunes for memory impaired patients at assisted living and nursing facilities.

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
