I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Each student is provided a weekly practice journal. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. In 2005, he won the 1st prize at the Houston flute club, Denise Jennings Memorial Solo & Ensemble Competition Professional level, also has selected one of 5 finalists of the Byron Hester memorial competition. His most recent recital includes Duo Indiana 2011 in a sold out performance with pianist Akiko Iguchi in Japan, and Back to Baroque with the Renovo String Orchestra at the Music Institute of Chicago September 2011. Most recent performance includes Duo Reital in Tokyo, Japan with pianist Vladimir Valjarevic in August 2012, "Sonatas And Birds." I let the student pick what they want to start with first and then I will pick the next exercise.
