I am currently a private voice and piano teacher in the Danbury/Bethel area. To me, encouragement of proper practice skills is vital in the process of learning for students at any age. With the addition to encouraging individual practice skills, I find it key to ask parents to partake in their child's practice skills, as well. For young beginning students (usually ages 5-7) I would begin with the Hal Leonard Piano Lessons Book series. After I feel that the student can properly read music and understand fundamentals of the piano I will begin to incorporate other methods such as Piano Adventures and the Bastien series. I am a very active musician that has an innate love of teaching. I started playing the clarinet at age 10 and quickly gained interest in playing more than just one instrument. Fast forward to high school, where I am playing Tuba in the marching band, clarinet in the concert band, and saxophone in the jazz band; this is where I know I wanted to share my passion for others. Here a student and teacher relationship is fundamentally based on speed of absorption of the concepts and coupled with the fun and enjoyment of learning a new thing every lesson. As time permits, I teach with the goal of a new take-away from every lesson which gives the student something to practice for the next lesson.
