I was the student of Dr. Jody Graves at Eastern Washington University and acticely performs both as solo and collaborate pianist, private and group class instructor, and a high demand accompanist back in the East Washington area. I have developed a method for guitar students of all ages to quickly learn chords and scales so that they can not only learn the chord progression to songs, they can also find the correct scale to "solo" and improvise over them. Once the chord structure and scale are learned I accompany the student, playing along with them so that they can practice playing with another musician and soloing. I usually start out by doing the methods book but I also stress the importance of playing with others in a group or duet setting. I love getting to play the teacher part with my students so it's more of a collaboration than a solo job. My goal is to have my students play duets with each other if that can be accommodated. I work with students of all ages and ability levels, including students who are neurodivergent, students with physical disabilities, and students who don't speak English.
