I began teaching five years ago with a diverse studio that covered everything from musical theatre to hip hop. I currently teach at a music studio here in Jacksonville, where I have a large studio of private students as well as group music classes for elementary and preschool aged children. I started playing trumpet in middle school around the age of 11, and I've been playing trumpet for about 11 years. I played for 3 years in my high school's marching band, winning state championship's one year, and 3rd the other years. I've played in jazz bands, concert bands, and I've participated in MPA. For younger beginners, I typically start with Hal Leonard’s essential elements, every once in a while, I encourage them to find their favorite song (it can be any type of music) to study and play in the lesson. It can be the entertainment during lessons. The purpose it to make lessons more fun and keep them motivated.
