I have taught quite literally all ages. 5-75. Styles and lesson books used varied depending upon student and school. I usually taught Suzuki for violin, viola and classical guitar (tend to prefer Scott Tennant Pumping Nylon book for classical guitar though). And usually Faber Piano Adventures for young piano students. Eventually going to Clementi Sonatinas and Chopin Preludes. Also Mel Bay Modern Guitar for beginning rock/jazz guitarists. I started playing music and specifically the saxophone in the fourth grade. I played all throughout middle school and high school. Outside of school, I took classes at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and was a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra. I started playing the bass guitar my junior year in high school. I always used to hear music in the house growing up but I first became interested in music when I was around the age of five and heard Take Five by Paul Desmond playing on the radio in the car. I always make sure my students and their parents have realistic expectations when they start taking music lessons. For instance, violin is a difficult instrument to play and it can take months of practice to play a simple tune. However, it can be fun and enjoyable as long as it is understood that these simple accomplishments in playing the violin are in fact rather big ones. I request the parents of young (5-7 years old) students to be present during the lesson as often as possible. Read More

I have been teaching music for about 4 years now. I have taught guitar at the top music schools in Huntington Beach and Burbank CA. I have worked with students as young as 4 and 5 years old. I use a unique approach that combines rhythm and chord recognition with the essence of fun and motor skills. Hobby students are encouraged to practice 20-30 minutes 4-5 days per week. For more serious students, the practice expectation is 45-60 minutes per day, 5-6 days per week. YEARS 8+: ADVANCED LEVEL This level of playing is equivalent to a college music major or someone who takes their music study very seriously.
