For beginning students, I focus primarily on good sitting posture, both with and without the cello. We then focus on developing left-hand shape and function, before learning basic scales and tunes. Through consistent reinforcement, encouragement, and exercises, I help my students to build the solid technical foundation necessary to develop mastery of the instrument. I primarily use the Suzuki cello books, the Schroeder etudes, and the Starker method, however, I frequently make arrangements of popular tunes for students if that is what they are interested in playing. I began playing the piano at the age of 3, my father was a musician, and my first teacher! I continued to study classical, pop, and jazz stlyes, and began performing at age 7, and teaching in high school. Since college, I have maintained a private studio, either at home or in pretigious music schools, and have also taught in the school setting. I use a variety of methods in my teaching to create a unique program for each student, including the Bastien Method, Faber Method, Music Tree Method, Alfred Method, and the Suzuki Method. My students are welcome to participate in private studio recitals as well as Aurora Music Teachers Association events, including Achievement Day, Four Forms Festival, Composition Festival, and the Adult Potluck. I began teaching my neighbor's kids when I was 12 years old. I taught until I was sixteen, which is when I began -playing club dates and weddings. I taught mostly classical, polkas, and european songs. I became a better musician when I played professionally, I had to amass my own 'fake book' and write some of my own music. I graduated from Belmont University in 2019 with a bachelor of fine arts in violin performance. I have been honored to play at many venues around the world including venues in the Czech Republic, Florida, New York City, Nashville, Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Denver. I have taught Violin for eight years and it is one of the most rewarding aspects of my violin world.
