I then transition to Suzuki repertoire. I also include music individual to each student based on their interests. My methods are flexible and designed to draw out the strengths of each student. I use the Suzuki method for violin and the Alfred curriculum for piano. The Suzuki Method really focuses on the ability to train the ear first before reading music. I believe it is important to teach music reading skills as well as playing by ear.
