If I am teaching beginners I will focus on developing proper technique (i.e. hand placement and crossing strings). How one ends is contigent on how they start, so I make sure beginners have proper technique before moving on to repertoire. I will also have beginners go through the Hal Leonard method books to ensure they have the theory necessary to progress. Once the students have developed the necessary technique and theory, I will give them more challanging material to learn. Read More

For young beginners, I prefer to use Alfred, piano adventure and Bastien method book. I also use piano tree to teach young kids as well. Once my students finish the fundamental study I will begin to introduce classical pieces and all other genres as well. Also I will provide two recitals every year to give students an opportunity to perform in front of their family and friends. For adults beginners, I prefer to use Alfred for adult all in one. Junior year of high school I transitioned to giving group lessons for the music students in my school district. I have been consistently teaching students for the last four years, by being invited to do workshops for students at Monmouth University, Brookdale Community College, and Long Branch High School. I started teaching friends various instruments and general music theory as a freshman. Then I continued my teaching with tutoring my fellow bass students with more difficult material. Now, after having graduated from Rowan University, I teach with the Resonance School of Music teaching guitar, clarinet electric bass and upright bass. While Resonance is certainly a more traditional approach, I like to think I balance it out by also teaching at a School of Rock, giving instruction on both guitar and electric bass. Read More
