I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude) from Berklee college of Music in Interdisciplinary Music Studies and Music Composition for films and games. I play and teach India drums. Recognizing that each student is unique, i.e., their instruments, learning styles, mental and emotional make-up, etc., I need to be flexible in how I work with each student. There is no one-size-fits-all! I work to understand each student's learning style and adapt my teaching accordingly. I ask a lot of questions, asking the student to think about their own learning style, what they are experiencing, hearing, and feeling. This not only gives me cues on how to better adapt my teaching style to them, but gets them thinking about what they are doing and reinforces their learning, which in turn helps them in their own practice by starting to become their own best teacher. I approach teaching first and foremost from a mindset of love for music. I try to encourage the same passion for music in my students that I have myself. I believe in the importance of music in our society and in our lives and aim to relay that in my lessons. My teaching style, particularly with my younger students, is to combine yoga-like breathing and proper posture to develop their voice naturally. I find that it does not matter which style of singing you would like to learn or how you would like to use your voice, breathing and breath work are an essential foundation to wonderful music making. Vocal lessons are a bit different, as everyone has sung to some degree, even it's just to themselves! For beginning vocal students, I start by simply teaching a student how to warm up; from there, we work together to determine what a student's natural strengths and weaknesses are and select repertoire that the student is personally interested in that is also appropriate to their level of proficiency. After college, I lived in New York City for 5 years and then Los Angeles for 5 years, while teaching voice and working as a professional singer. I have recently moved back home to South Jersey and can't wait to continue my passion for teaching voice. I received a Master’s degree in Music from the Boyer College of Music in Philadelphia, PA in 2015 for Vocal Performance. Before that, I graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P.I. Tchaikovsky in Kiev in 2013, where I received a Bachelor in Music, took parts in a lot of operas ("Le nozze di Figaro", "Eugene Onegin", "Faust") and also earned a certificate of teaching. While at the Kiev Institute of Music, I took part in different international music competitions, and performed concerts and operas. Read More
