I'm a passionate instructor who loves to share my love of music and discover all the possibilities that a student can have with the instrument. I graduated from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory with a bachelor in trombone performance. Working as a trombonist with the Navy band Southeast, I'm constantly performing in different ceremonies and teaching masterclasses around the Southeast area of the US, including Puerto Rico. My teaching experience begins in high school where I was appointed to be an orchestra assistant. There, I began offering before and after school private lessons with violinists and violists. Since then, I have graduated and am now attending UNF and assisting the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra. I currently have two students who participate in the youth orchestra and I adore it. My teaching style focuses on each student as an individual. I do not believe in making the student look or play exactly like me in terms of technique or style. I am kind, energetic, and engaging, but I can also be strict if it is required in order to meet the student's goals. I like to make learning and lessons exciting because it keeps the student engaged and inspired. For my beginner students, who are younger, I start off with the Faber series in the Primer levels. After progressing through the first few levels of the series, I then start to introduce solo repertoire depending on the interests of the student. For my older students, we also go through the Faber Adult Piano Adventures book, where we learn the basics of piano along with some fun pieces. I like to start by exploring where the student is at in their musical education and what they are looking to study in private lessons. From there, we build the lesson around them! Once we’ve established where to begin, I’ll ask the student to choose a piece they’d like to perform and I’ll assign them a piece of my own choice as well. For my classical students I'll typically start with art song repertoire and for musical theatre I'll choose a classic piece. Read More
