I will start off my lessons with the Bastien Piano Basics course. The student will use a lesson book, a performance book, a technique book and a theory book. Once the student has reached a certain level, they will begin lessons in Piano Literature and John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano. I encourage them to stretch beyond the familiar while providing a very individualistic approach to their lessons. At this stage the music becomes more difficult and lengthy, so I like to group phrases of the piece in sections until they can be played together cohesively. I have taught music classes (choir, music theory, hand bells, recorders, and general music) for Kindergarten-10th grade for seven years, and I have taught private music lessons for over 10 years. I have taught students as young as five years old, and I've had students well into their retirement years as well.
