I began teaching Glee themed camps and dance classes through an organization in Denver, and then moved on to choreograph children's musicals (the largest of these had 80 children ages six to eighteen!). This is something that I try to move through fairly quickly as to help the student progress to material that they are interested in. From there we will continue to build their foundation, but by learning from material that they have brought in. I always want to help my students understand the basics of music and universal principles that can apply to any music they are interested in learning. Whether it's jazz, pop, classical, blues, most styles of music share these principles in common and are best played when the musician can understand the underlying structures.
