We start with the basics like how to hold the drum sticks, how to read music, and how to start playing some simple basic beats. Then things become more tailored to the specific drumming needs. For example, if you are trying to learn the drums for a jazz ensemble, we can practice jazz songs together. Music has been a part of my life from as early as I can remember. After graduating from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in 2006 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance, I have continued to perform and broaden my range of musical experiences through diverse engagement in both the classical and non-conventional realms. I have been teaching voice lessons for almost ten years to students of all ages, skill levels, and preferred genres. Many of my students have been successful on stage, in auditions, competitions, and in gaining acceptance into music schools across the country. My focus is to guide my student in finding their own voice in a healthy way. Every student has a different goal in taking voice lessons. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Bastien. If the student is older, we should progress relatively quickly and move onto more advanced books such as Piano Adventures. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My music career began in 1980's as an advertising copywriter and jingle composer in New York City within a big advertising agency. I composed well-known commercials for Purina Cat Chow, Cookie Crisp, Goya foods and other big brands. I created the "slogans" and tunes, hired the musicians, booked the studio recording time and produced the complete :30 TV commercial. After raising my children, traveling to kids parties and a dabble in local theater,  I went back to college for a music teaching degree. Read More
