As students progress, I encourage exploration across various genres. Drawing from my diverse experiences, I guide students through the nuances of different styles, techniques, and interpretations. For more advanced students, I emphasize creativity and personal expression. I often incorporate improvisation exercises, composition challenges, and collaborative projects. This not only nurtures their musical individuality but also prepares them for real-world performance scenarios. I believe in a student-centered approach, where open communication and feedback are key. Read More
Instruments: Clarinet
My teaching experience started as a clarinet instructor in an after school program with students from 5th to 12th grade. I have taught for 15 years in the after school music program system in addition to maintaining a private clarinet studio with students of different ages and skill levels. It has been very rewarding to witness my students excelling in their musical journey. I truly enjoy preparing students for their recitals, competitions, districts, community orchestras or band performances or just getting to the next level of playing. Read More

With beginning students, I will start with the basics and encourage them to buy A Modern Method for Guitar by William Leavitt. Starting out, students will work on chords and scales. We will also work on building a repetoire of songs for the student to work on perform. Intermediate students will work on the fundamentals of theory, triads, beginner 7th chords, and improvasation. Advanced students will work on expanding their knowledge of theory, inversions, technique building, chord tensions and substitution. Read More
Instruments: Piano
A full hour lesson usually consists of an instructional course book, a song or two that the student enjoys plus ear training, theory, harmony or else according to the students' needs, interest and the level. Tailoring the lesson for each student and having fun with him/her is the key! Younger students would need more structure with practice guide and be having more synesthetic activities such as sining, tapping, mild dancing and more. Read More

I have been teaching guitar and bass for the past 10 years, and have had the pleasure of watching some of my students move on to become actively performing, professional musicians. I bounced between many instructors as I was learning to play, and studied under a handful of music professors in college. Doing so helped me see the instructor who I wanted to become, and develop a teaching program that caters to the needs of each individual student. Read More

I believe music should be fun and the process of studying it should be fun. But like everything else, it has challenges, and I think the fun part should be finding solutions to those challenges. I will give them fun exercises and I will give them questions to think about. I'm also quite patient if the student doesn't get something, and I will use different ways to explain it until they can fully understand. Read More
