I have been teaching since I graduated from college. I have taught indiviudal lessons as well as large groups at performing arts camps. One thing I really strive to maintain is the student's motivation! I figure out where the student's interests remain and hone in so as to keep the lessons refreshing.
I've been actively teaching for nearly 35 years. Teaching children as well as adults. I graduated from Drake University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Music Education. While in college I played professionally in the Des Moines Symphony and was the winner of the Young Artist Contest which afforded me the privilege of featured soloist with the Drake Symphony Orchestra. I've travelled Europe performing in America's Youth in Concert and have played at Carnegie Hall, Notre Dame. I've taught in the public schools for 20 years and have taught from my private studio for nearly 35 years. My joy is seeing my student's dream realized.
I truly believe that all learning, while serious in nature, should be fun and exciting in methodology. Living in the age of technology, there are so many ways to make learning fun and interesting for students. Whether it be sharing information from Youtube, educational sites such as The Teaching Channel, using digital music apps such as "Smart Music" for assessment, showing a student how to record themselves on their smartphones, all of these things can be brought in to the instructional experience. The most important part of teaching is knowing your students, what they want to learn, and divising curriculums to fit their needs.
I'm fun! I am not a bitter musician with a sardonic attitude like so many other teachers. I enjoy music more than just about anything. I know how to make every lesson fun and I will keep you excited and enthusiastic about your own journey. I don't use drugs. I don't drink alcohol. I don't smoke cigarettes. I don't gamble. I MAKE MUSIC AND TEACH OTHERS HOW TO MAKE MUSIC. Females: You do not have to be concerned about being "creeped on". I have been happily married to the same cool chick for over 20 years. My only interest in you is to bring out the best in you. Parents: Your kids are safe with me. I have had decades of experience working with children. Feel free to take a look at my extensive charity work with the Grandsons of Italy. I host and produce annual Christmas parties for mentally and physically challenged children. I work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in fundraising and entertainment. I volunteer with the LA Fire Department's "Fill The Boot" program and have dedicated a considerable amount of my time to helping an organization that rescues abducted children. In short, I'm the good guy.
It is important to pass on the education and experience I received. In my opinions, this is a duty of the artist. So I have always tried to share what has been given to me. I have had both formal and ad hoc students over the years. Although I've taught other subjects, such as theater and computer science, music is my metier, so it is the subject I am most fond of and love to teach the most. These days students are very interested in production techniques. Such techniques can also be part of our lesson plan.

Studying music facilitates learning in other subjects such as math and English, helps promote language development, and can even possibly result in increased IQ! Musical activity can also involve a high level of hand-eye coordination and can improve a student's spatial temporal skills while giving them a skill they can have for the rest of their lives. It's important to remember that the biggest benefit of studying music is the development of a lifetime love of diverse types of music.
Musika offers a convenient solution for when you want to add music lessons to your busy schedule. Teachers can come to your home on the days you are available, and give you the same great lesson that you would have in a studio! This option allows you to stay in the comfort of your own home and get a great music lesson at the same time. With in home lessons you are able to save time and money that would usually be spent on travel expenses.

Gina is very supportive and encouraging. Even though I get frustrated with my progress, she can tell that I've been practicing and reminds me of how far I've come. She challenges me to learn new skills without giving me a piece that I cannot master (with practice). I'm happy that she is my music teacher and look forward to many more lessons in the future.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons through her school district program for the last two years. She had learned a lot in that class but I noticed that she needed advanced classes at this point. After reviewing several websites I decided to enroll my daughter for the trial at MUSIKA. We got Mrs. Veronica B., and I am more than happy we got her as my daughter's teacher. Mrs. Veronica B. was very professional and very knowledgeable at the trial day. She was able to assess my daughter skill's level, and then she was able to give suggestions about how to improve those skills. My daughter has taken 5 classes with Mrs. Barker, and I can see she enjoys each class and she's improved a lot since day one. I can picture my daughter playing her favorites songs on the piano very soon!!! :-)

Karleen has really turned it around for me. My previous teacher (not from Musika) had me feeling anxious, upset, and incapable...NOT the desired result! Karleen's method is clear, appropriate for my beginning level, and (best of all) actually lets me achieve some progress! I'm actually looking forward to my lessons now!

My son and I both take lessons with Micheal. My son started on the ukulele and recently started the guitar. He is excellent with children. Very patient and very intuitive to the child's ability. He is also an excellent teacher for adults. I had not touched my guitar in several years and in a couple months not only to I remember everything I forgot but I'm learning many new techniques and am a much better player than I've ever been.

Caitlyn is friendly, helpful and still holds my high-school aged daughter accountable for practicing. She also makes sure the music technique is mastered correctly during the lessons - they work hard and still have a good time together. I can highly recommend her as a flute teacher. My daughter is very happy & grateful to have found Caitlyn as a teacher.

Lara is highly intelligent and knowledgeable in her profession. She is cheerful and personable, and has established a good rapport with students and staff alike. I have found Lara to be a highly competent, personable, patient, kind-hearted, and deeply caring person who is skilled professionally and interpersonally.

Our kids love Mr. Lynwood. Mr. Lynwood is very patient and skillful teaching our kids both music theory and guitar/piano. He keeps them engaged and motivated during their lessons and we are seeing -or rather hearing- fast improvement in the kids' dexterity playing their respective instruments. We would recommend this good natured instructor to anybody.

He is incredibly patient and really customizes his teaching style to the child. Both of my children are learning piano with him; they have learned so much and really enjoy the lessons. In fact, my daughter asked to learn another instrument (guitar) with him and is making great progress with that, too.

“My son and I have been taking lessons with Lynn for 5 or 6 years now. She is very patient with younger students (& older students having "senior moments"). She is also flexible in her lessons in that if we want to work on theory, jazz, rock, blues, she will cater to our requests.” – Karl B., C.P.A., Aug 2015
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
