As students advance I introduce sheet music and music they like. For adults, there are a couple of chord method books by Alfred and Faber available and I use those unless they request something specific to work on. Students who are in the beginning level , I teach read the music theory, time signatures, sharps, flats, natural sign, melodic and harmonic intervals, chords, chord progression and assign a song or two song for students to practice , this type of exercise are help his/ her fingers getting familiar on the piano/keyboard.
