The electric guitar quickly became a part of my identity, a part of my security, and has remained as a stable force in my life. I've been lucky to have a diverse professional musical career, studying jazz at SUNY New Paltz, nationally touring in a Zydeco Punk band, fronting my own band of originals, singing and playing guitar in rock musicals, and composing soundtracks. All while keeping up my teaching practice. Read More

I have been teaching drums and music for over 10 years now, and I have truly fallen in love with it. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student progress and achieve their goals on the drum set or in their musical pursuits. I approach each lesson with a balance of structure and flexibility, tailoring the lesson plan to the individual needs and goals of the student. I believe in building a foundation grounded in technique and relaxation, while also encouraging creativity and self-expression. Read More

I started teaching private lessons back in the day when I was living in my country, the Dominican Republic. I had students of different ages and with different interests. Also, before I moved to the United States, I taught for almost a year in a private music school in my country. In that school, I had the opportunity to teach Drums to very young kids, and for me it was a great and fun experience to teach those kids back in those days. Read More

I began teaching 2 years ago during my undergrad years and fell in love with sharing the joy of music and singing. As a young kid, taking lessons myself, I constantly was seeking to learn different types of music and always felt like I could never find the right teacher who could help me expand my musical knowledge in the ways I wanted. Because I have a background in instrumental music, I truly believe in the importance of a foundation in theory, ear training skills, and music reading. Read More

For beginners who are children, I start with the essential Suzuki method which includes a focus on musical listening imitation, parental involvement (at very young ages) and creating an effortless technique. The Suzuki books are great in that they provide a great foundation and an extremely logical progression for taking students from complete beginners to an advanced level. For advanced students, we can branch out into a wide variety of classical concertos or other repertoire (this happens around Suzuki book 6) I love to teach adults, and I try to structure my teaching in accordance with adult students' goals and interests. My teaching style caters to each students needs. Exercises can be created and personalized to accomplish certain goals such as chop building and accuracy drills, or pattern recognition. My lessons are typically broken down into segments. Starting with ear training drills/music theory, warm up/scales, etude practice, and improvisation/free play at the end. The music theory will use "The Jazz Piano Book" by Mark Levine as a reference along with Berklee Theory 1-4 The songs that we learn can be picked by you! Read More
