Music education should be fun, non-stressful, and help build character. My education at the University of Florida has helped me understand what students are capable of doing at certain ages. Our brains can only do so much at a certain age. I believe in practicing slow and understanding how each student learns. Some of us are visual learners, some are aural, some kinesthetic and some perfect all the above. I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure I teach to your style. Read More

I had many students who were mostly children. I discovered that I had a talent and passion for teaching the instrument. What sets me apart from most teachers is the emphasis I put on practicing with music in mind. I try to relate everything I teach back to how it can be applied musically in a way that excites the student. I love seeing students be able to play their favorite songs and become motivated about the drums. Read More

I have taught music classes (choir, music theory, hand bells, recorders, and general music) for Kindergarten-10th grade for seven years, and I have taught private music lessons for over 10 years. I have taught students as young as five years old, and I've had students well into their retirement years as well. Everyone can enjoy learning about music; that's what makes music so unique and amazing. My highest goal is to inspire my students to love music, practice well, and perform to the best of their ability. Read More

From the young age of five years old, I begin training in opera. I never understood why my teacher was so passionate about teaching me operatic techniques, but now as an adult, I can appreciate the versatility that learning opera gave me. I went on to be a part of the Rhode Island Children's Chorus, learning from Dr. Christine Noel. Eventually, in my high school years, I became an apprentice with the chorus and began teaching. One thing I try to do is find out what my students goals are and what their skill level is. Based on that I can shape lessons to that end. I have taught students new to the guitar from "The Art of Guitar" by Grant Gustafson. I incorporate things more familiar to the student as well to keep it fun and interesting When I was going through school, I personally studied in the following books. Read More

I tailor each of my lessons to the needs and desires of each individual. I am fond of using method books such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or Bruce Peterson's Standard of Excellence (or, with school children in a band program, whatever their method book may be), but I also like to bring separate handouts or sheets of exercises, drills, and songs that I have created over the years. I want each lesson to be engaging and fulfilling, and for the student to feel as though they can achieve the tasks set before them for each suceeding lesson. Read More
