We will and can do any or all of the following: Drums : pad rudiments , playing position training , speed and technique Drumset : rock folk and blues style drumming, some swing/jazz and funk and such. Handdrums: ocasionally i may bring over handdrums for a 15 minute session on how to play them! I love playing guitar and strive to share the passion with others. I have been performing since I began playing guitar 12 years ago. In 2012, I began my studies at Oberlin Conservatory music as a Jazz Guitar Performance major. I graduated in 2017, with a B.M. in Jazz Guitar Performance and a B.A. in Political Science. A native Washingtonian, tenor saxophonist Brian graduated from the prestigious Duke Ellington School of The Arts, a product of master teacher and musician Davey Yarborough. He earned his BFA from The New School University in New York City, studying under Arnie Lawrence, Steve Neil, Charles Davis, Reggie Workman and Chico Hamilton. In 2008 Brian completed a Master of Music (MM) degree from Howard University where he was a graduate teaching assistant and student of saxophone virtuoso, Charlie Young. Among others, Brian has performed with Curtis Fuller, Gil Scott-Heron, Shirley Horn, Stanley Turrentine, Stanley Clarke, Mickey Roker, Butch Warren, Freddie Redd, Tom Abbs & Frequency Response and currently plays with Tomas Fujiwara and the Hookup. After finishing school, I began establishing my own studio. In addition to classical piano, I have received two years of collegiate-level vocal instruction. Singing has been a part of my life since a very young age--I believe singing is a wonderful form of musical expression and recommend it to enhance instrumentalists' understanding of phrasing. I also play guitar and have ample experience in contemporary keyboard from church settings. I hope to use all of this experience to provide a rounded music education to my students. Read More
