Instruments: Piano
My style involves around having a "recital" piece that we work on at all times, as well as technical exercises and different games to increase music theory, rhythm, sight reading, ear training, etc. We set goals and work to accomplish them in a timely manner. I always take time to make sure you as the student are comprehending what I'm explaining to you. Some technical instruction is done with arpeggios, scales, chords, etc., but in general, I try to keep the lesson as interesting as possible so that we can have fun while learning! Read More

I've found the best way to teach is to cater to each student's interest. While early or beginning players may require some fundamental grunt work, there is always a way to assure that it's fun too. Earlier students would need to start learning the basics: rhythm, learning to read, developing technique through scales etc. of which there are many methods. As students mature, I feel the Suzuki method for aspiring classical students is the best route (there are multiple books in this series) along with some other extensive and more challenging works. Instruments: Trumpet
From a young age, I've been interested in music, and I would often tap around on my grandma's piano, but alas I went toward brass instruments. I started playing trumpet in middle school around the age of 11, and I've been playing trumpet for about 11 years. I played for 3 years in my high school's marching band, winning state championship's one year, and 3rd the other years. I've played in jazz bands, concert bands, and I've participated in MPA. My first goal is keeping music fun. One of the easiest ways to start this is by knowing why a student wants to learn the guitar. With that, I can set realistic expectations from week to week and encourage them as they make accomplishments. I try to incorporate songs early on. There is some amount learning of chords and other fundamentals needed, but it doesn't take much to start playing. Read More
Instruments: Voice
No two students learn alike and that sentiment is at the core of my teaching philosophy. I want each student to learn at a pace they find comfortable and give themselves attainable, realistic goals. Each student will receive lesson plans tailored to their needs and their goals. I am always encouraging students to explore and try new things fosters confidence and creativity. I want to work on whatever my students are interested in! Read More

For children, I draw influence from the organization of the Suzuki method, while still maintaining the emphasis on fun. (Learning TV theme songs, etc) Fundamentals are introduced with memorable examples tailored to the students musical interests. For all other levels of experience, I encourage the student to share with me what exactly it is that they want to learn or need help with. If the student has no idea, I will take over and decide what is missing from the students repetoire, and find the most effective way of tackling these new skills while maintaining fun.
