I am a graduate of the Boston z conservatory with a degree in both violin and piano. I have oergormed at thr White House numerous times and in additionition have performed at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Paris, London, Wales, Rome,Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Vatican for the Pope amongst many other places. With beginner students of all ages, I start with the Elementary Drum Method Book by Roy Burns, Ultimate Realistic Rock Drum Method book by Carmine Appice, and the Drum Rudiment Dictionary by Jay Wanamaker. I am a fan of helping my students learn their favorite songs, and will take time to go over the songs, bar by bar. Although my initial emphasis is on the traditional Simandl approach to position playing, once the student has gained an appropriate level of technique, we will focus on the student's stylistic goals and musicianship. I encourage the student to bring other materials to the lesson, for example a school based music assignment or ensemble part or recording or any piece of music that the student wishes to learn.
