I enjoy working at the begining to intermediate level for children as I get to introduce the earliest piano musical skills and I usually spend thirty minutes on teaching piano practice methods and thirty minutes on music theory skills. Currently, I use books like Dozen a Day, Scales and Hanon to build good finger techniques, John Thompson and John W.Schaum books for songs and theory preparation. For Beginners who are just learning how to read music, I usually start off with Faber's method, there is a version for adults as well as children. This seems to progress at a very suitable speed, comfortable yet still challenging, and has proved to be quite effective in getting basics down. For young beginning voice students, I start with lessons on proper breath support, sight-singing, intonation exercises, and warm-ups to shape their voice. For both my piano and voice students, I establish a strong, classical foundation that is built on fundamentals to get their instrument working properly and then branch out to other genres from there.
