Like most trumpet teachers, I introduce the Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet, an everything-you-need-to-know book that the student will use throughout their trumpet playing career. However, I also incorporate a variety of other method, solo, and duet books throughout lessons with an intent of maintaining variety, both of material and the methods that the material presents. At the start of my junior year of high school, I began teaching piano to a handful of students in my small town. It was such an exciting experience! I taught a few very young students whose moms wanted them to try out the instrument and learn some fundamentals, and I taught a few older students who just wanted to know how to play some of their favorite songs. I believe that regular practice is important, and that practicing should be fun. I try to combine classical and modern music when teaching, as both are important to the development of a well rounded musician.
