I also like to teach my students basic music theory to give them a better understanding of how music is structured and to deepen their overall musicianship. I have over 20 years of experience playing brass and 17 years as a Bass Trombonist. I studied under Mexican Symphony Orchestra trombonist David Quintinar and have played with the Solano Symphony Orchestra, Benicia Ballet, Sacramento Youth Symphony, Pasadena Community Symphony, and countless smaller rock and jazz groups. With a BA in Music Composition from UCSB and a decade of composing and performing experience in Los Angeles, I continue my teaching journey with Musika Lessons and am excited to introduce new students to the power of brass! The choir has been actively performing since it's beginning in 2008. The group has given numerous concerts for charitable purposes, and is proud to have worked together with Serbian and NBA basketball legend, Vlade Divac in raising funds for his HOD foundation.      Chamber choir 'Istochnik' is scheduled to appear next on Feb. 21st, 2015 in San Marcos (CA) as a part of a programme honouring the Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine and their most impressive humanitarian work.  Read More

I began teaching right after college, but put that on hold when my career took off. After having children, I returned to teaching and have taught in schools and privately for the last 15 years. I teach a classical , bell canto foundation so my students learn how to use their voice properly and then add different techniques to help them shape their sound for different styles of singing. I specialize in helping musical theater singers find and strengthen their mix and belt voices. Read More

For children, I begin with Donald Waxman's Pageant for Piano series. The pieces are quite fun, and also good for technique. The illustrations also offer many opportunities for story-making and engagement. For adults, I begin with James Bastien's The Older Beginner Piano course, and for intermediate learners, supplement it with pieces from Bartok's Mikrokosmos, Czerny, Kabalevsky, Burgmuller's 24 Etudes, duets and various other literature as appropriate.
