I'm a passionate instructor who has an insatiable love for music. I have been traveling the world since I was a child, and have been all over Europe and Latin America. I recently moved to California after spending 4 years abroad in Madrid, Spain while studying to finish my degrees in Psychology and Philosophy. I have met musicians from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds and amazing life stories, who have inspired me to keep spreading the love for music. I often bring in lessons that I have learned in my life into the music lessons as I find that nursing the mind and the soul is as important when learning to play an instrument.
I have been playing the guitar for about 13 years and have been teaching for about 4 years. My teaching experience began in college as I taught private lessons to other students and even some faculty. Since I graduated school, I began working in a music production and recording studio where I teach music lessons and help artists produce and record their own music. I am a very patient instructor who likes to bring in all sorts of knowledge and fun into the classroom! I will not only teach how to play music, but I also like to bring in philosophy into my teachings! I am also willing to teach ANYONE.
Everyone learns differently, so I adjust my teaching to every student I take in. However, I strive to help my students master the fundamentals so that they can begin paving their own musical path. I enjoy all types of music and encourage my students to pursuit their interests as I find it motivating for them when facing new musical challenges. My main teaching method is to encourage persistent practice (especially for beginners) as it will help develop muscle memory in the fingers. I also encourage students to bring in music they'd like to learn so that we can learn it together!
I like to keep my lessons laid back, but also focused. Music is better when the person is relaxed, so I enjoy keeping a certain levity in my lessons. I enjoy getting to know each of my students individually and find out who and what inspires them to better mold my instruction to their wants. I love to laugh and I also love to make people laugh, so you can expect me to bring humor into our lessons as well. From time to time I will also bring in life lessons and philosophical ideas that I have learned throughout my life!
