I am a composer, vocalist, sometime percussionist and keyboard player. I received my Associates of Arts in Traditional Music, Composition from American River College in 2016. I am currently working on my Bachelors of Music in Music, Composition at California State University, Northridge. While at ARC, I studied composition, jazz theory, improve and piano with Joe Gilman. My lessons typically start with stretching and breathing exercises and then transition to vocal exercises. The vocal exercises serve to strengthen their technique and solidify skills needed to tackle their song. I always ask my students what kind of music they are interested in and find songs to work on that will help strengthen their voice, but also connect with their soul. For children or beginner students I start out with the simple basics of the piano and get them familiar with the piano keys.I then introduce theory to them slowly and learn how to read music. I teach composition, theory, performance, ear training, reading and much more. I'm fairly new to teaching. I had the opportunity to co-lead the soprano section in my university choir for a year, which gave me my first taste of what teaching other people was like. I loved it, because it allowed me to step into something bigger than myself: helping other people learn how to sing together well! After graduating from California State University, I became involved with conducting and established my own youth symphony orchestra, working with teens who were eighteen years and younger. I organized weekly rehearsals, prepared the orchestra repertoire, and arranged performances. During my graduate studies at the San Francisco conservatory I was involved in the internship program coaching orchestra excerpts and private lessons at George Washington High School.
