I am incredibly fulfilled by witnessing growth in my students, and love the "Ah-HA!" moments. My approach is based on the student's learning patterns and interests, and tailor my lessons to each individual student. I feel that music is the ultimate form of expression, and I try to make my foundation as limitless as possible. Growth is the main goal for me and my students. My job is not to make virtuosos, but to give my students the right practice and motivational tools so they can accomplish their goals while also having fun. Read More
Instruments: Drums
My methods... are really more of "what kind of person" is the student. Usually we start with the sitting position on the instrument, stick control , snare exercises , basic drum beats, development. After the control of the instrument the most important is the sound control...dynamics, exercises into the beats, songs, playing in more music styles, independence. ....success. Read More

I've studied classical music and music theory since I was 8-years-old and made the 5A Texas All-State Band my junior year of high school. I received a scholarship to study music education at AM-Commerce University. After two years, I decided to move to San Marcos to perform in the central Texas area. I'm currently studying public relations at Texas State University with a minor in music and perform, on average, 2-3 nights a week. Read More
Instruments: Cello
For younger beginners, I will start with the basics of cello, mostly through the Essential Elements books. Once the student is ready, we will mostly stick to the Suzuki method, starting at cello book 1, and moving through each piece. For older beginners, I will still try to stick to Suzuki as a format, but will be open to letting the student choose what they might want to start playing. I will also try to keep a log of what students have worked on and need to work on, and would encourage them to do the same. Read More

As mentioned previously my teaching style is collaborative. I love working with students to help them achieve their musical goals and it is incredibly rewarding to watch their individual progress along their musical journey. I like to encourage and challenge students to become the best player that they can. Supporting the students as they make their way towards their goal is a big part of what I do. Providing supplementary educational materials or extra time and attention is all part of the service!! Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Organ
My teaching experience, on the individual and private level, goes back to my college days where I would tutor other students in piano to pass their keyboard barriers. While in the active duty military (I'm retired now), I provided private lessons to children and adults in my available time. It is important to remember that a student's individual practice time is invaluable; the lesson time is NOT supposed to be the first time to be reviewing an assigned piece! Read More
