My teaching experience starts back to my beginning years of college days. I start began teaching as private lesson instructor at my previous college community music school. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. Therefore, there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a student who has been working hard on learning something accomplish their goals and improve. I encourage all students to practice as much as possible. There is no way to improv without practice. Speaking from experience, a student learns best at their own pace. With private music lessons, it is a lot easier to identify what skills a student is good and as well as what needs to be worked on. When working with a new student, I like to hear what they have, so that way I can determine what I need to work on with said student. Because in order for a teacher to be as effective as can be for the student, they must get to know the student as a player and see what they already know so that the student is properly challenged and not bored or frustrated.
