Instruments: Violin
I like to tailor my teaching methods to each individual student. I know from taking lessons myself that no two violinist are alike, and it would be silly to teach as if they were. For my younger students, I really like to focus on the fundamentals of violin technique so that they can have a firm foundation on which they can improve. I also try to include music theory and music history into my lessons so that a student leaves each lesson not only as a better violinist, but as a better overall musician. Read More

Instruments: Trombone
I started on a cornet bequeathed to me by a friend of my father's, with a beginner's book, playing in my closet at 8 years old. I was given a trombone by a friend of my sister's at 11 years old, and subsequently became a trombonist. I had one initial lesson, with a saxophonist, who taught me to play the notes F and G. I became a professional trombonist at the age of 19 and didn't go to college for music until I was 27, where I immersed myself in study with professionals for 4 years. Read More

I have taught several students while I was studying music. I won the third place of the Taipei City Competition of Music among many outstanding competitors in 2015. On the other hand, I strived for the chance of participating in many performances. In 2014, I performed Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 with the local orchestra in Hualien. In 2017, I played Prokofiev’s Sinfonia-Concertante, Op.125 at my recital at Soochow University, which was praised by my teachers and the audiences. Read More

My methods include a number of fundamentals that include scales, technique and learning how to get around the instrument with ease and versatility. For beginners, I like to focus on the George Vance techniques and teaching in order to build a strong foundation. At the intermediate level, I like to find out what the students find interesting and cater the lesson plans around that. Same applies for adult students, I like to see where their interest are and focus on those aspects during the lessons while ensuring that their fundamental chops are at the level they need to be. To be successful at an instrument, it's important for a student to have something that drives their motivation. Playing an instrument is fun, but is also a lot of work and takes practice, perseverance, and patience. I strive to make lessons fun and to help the student find what encourages them to persevere. Music is a language: you must learn to speak, listen to, read and write a language to be fluent. Read More
