I earned my masters degree and Ph.D in flute from New York University where I was the youngest woman to receive a Ph.D from the School of Arts and Sciences. A university professor for 12 years, I have been a faculty member of the University of New Haven where I taught flute, piano and economics in addition to teaching flute, music history and music theory at Southern Connecticut State University and South Central Community College. I played Rock and some Metal music during my first couple years of guitar learning; however I went into Jazz field in college which also gave me some experience at some Latin music. For beginners students I typically start with music exploration, with percussion instruments or even turning or our bodies into a musical instrument, then once they have decide the instrument they want to learn, we begin with muscle memory and easy basic repertoire, for students that have been already initiated, I find out what kind of music there interested about and provide some of the basic skills to perform the piece they are interested in and slowly but surely introduced the basic skill to properly perform the piece.
