I create custom lesson plans depending on each student's musical background, stylistic preference, as well as age. For children I usually like to teach out of Hal Leonard's Guitar Method 1 and occasionally include songs they like/know as a reward for good work. For adults, it varies depending on their experience level and interests. I played Rock and some Metal music during my first couple years of guitar learning; however I went into Jazz field in college which also gave me some experience at some Latin music. Though I've been playing music since I was 10 years old, I had always viewed it as a hobby until I was a junior in College. After graduating from Texas State University in 2010, I nose-dived into the Austin music scene and after a couple years of networking and collaborating with other musicians, I found myself performing with a band called Calliope Musicals. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in music, Jesse decided to try his hand at composing and went on to recieve a Master's degree in composition, also from the University of California, Santa Cruz. As skills in rudiments and basic patterns develop, I go on to materials such as Syncopation by Ted Reed (reading,coordination,technique), and Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone (technique).
