I graduated in 2011 from Appalachian State University with a Bachelorof Music in Voice Performacne and I continued my education at ASU and recieved my Masters of Music in Voice Performance in 2013. During both degrees, I performed mainstage roles such as Nemorino in Donizetti'sElixir of Love, the Witch in Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel, Bastienin Mozart's Bastien und Bastienne, and Gherardo in Puccini's GianniSchicchi, as well as performed solos with the Appalachian Chorale suchas Handel's Messiah and Mendelsohn's Elijah. Opening up and allowing oneself to be real and show another person your raw self is difficult for both adults and children alike. In the past, I have used several different band methods and generally like to first use the book that the students' school district is using. As the student becomes more accomplished, I supplement with method books and solo literature from the repertoire of the individual instrument. For the younger student, additionally, I like to work with improvising and making up his/her own songs, so that they enjoy and develop a sense of accomplishment in composing their own music. Read More
