Throughout the years I have taught in person, online, have led flute choirs, and have been a clinician for woodwind sections for bands and orchestras. This method is especially helpful when I am teaching very young beginning students. I thrive teaching children between 6-9. I emphasize consistent good practice for a short period of time. I encourage my students to fit their practice in transitional times. Practice after dinner, practice before your homework, etc. for 5-10 minutes. It is consistent good practice that allows you to progress faster rather than long unfocused work. I find my students love this idea and it gives them proper freedom in their practice. Read More

I teach a breath based technique with a focus on relaxation. I want to help each individual find their true instrument. I like to use the 24 Italian Songs and Arias (Italian Art Songs) book as a basis for learning breath technique, legato, use of vowels and musicality, as well as being exposed to a foreign language. My approach to teaching is, basically, that playing piano should be enjoyable and fun so I tailor the lessons to the type of music in which the student has interest. I do, however, have a basic structure that includes reading music, finger dexterity and songs at the student's playing level.
