I am an enthusiastic and passionate private flute instructor who loves working with students of all ages. I love to see students grow into better musicians with each lesson we have. In May of 2016, I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Music Degree. I had an incredible opportunity to perform with the Texas State University Wind Symphony at the Collegiate Band Directors National Association conference in 2014. It is my goal as an instructor to guide the student toward their vision of success, whether it be personal, professional, or some mixture of both. Every student should be challenged, but nobody should ever feel as if music is some form of art that is lost on them. I seek to set standards and expectations high to learn alongside the student and to grow, both as people and as musicians, until the point at which they have exhausted my knowledge so that they may one day reminisce with pride and accomplishment on the path that I have set them upon. I've been teaching in a number of different situations for about 4 years now. I first began teaching in 2010 when I worked at the Magik Children's Theater in San Antonio as an instructor for a School of Rock class there. In this class, I taught beginning students on guitar, bass, keys, and drums how to play popular rock songs. I worked at the Magik Children's Theater for 2 years before moving to California where I worked as a Teaching Assistant and a full time instructor for a number of theory/musicianship classes at the California Institute of the Arts. My teaching style is to be sensitive to each student. Each person has a different relationship and understanding of music. I try to identify and accommodate the ways in which the student learns best. Some students need explicit instruction and to be pushed, others need gentle guidance with time and space to work things out for themselves.
