For piano, I use the Faber, Snell, Alfred and Marlais methods to the end of Level 6. These would include a lesson, technique, theory and performance books. Dozen a Day is included along with Czerny and Hanon in later levels. For voice, the younger students use Patterns of Sound, with scales, theory, performance and diaphragm exercise are included. I like to start beginning students with a combination of sheet music and by rote teaching. If a student comes to me with method books or other materials, we will start with those and I will suggest other materials as appropriate. I often have more advanced students work through various scales books and Rose etudes, and whatever other type of music interests them. I have been teaching drums and percussion privately for over 20 years. I focus on the interests of his students and teach in different musical styles such as classical, jazz, rock and metal. I can prepare someone for school band, or take an advanced student to another level preparing for a career in the music business.
