Learning to sing is a rewarding and worthwhile endeavor and I approach my students individualistically. I assign my student vocal exercises and repertoire and provide clear and thorough instruction to keep lessons fun and engaging! I challenge my students to practice and perfect the assigned homework and songs so that we may keep improving every week.  Through the years, I have built a vocal technique from the ground up which has allowed me to teach and guide students in their own journey in singing. I see myself as a facilitator, helping students discover new elements of music and music theory and building upon those to create a greater understanding of reading and playing music both for piano and voice. Often i will model by playing a song first so that the student cannot not only hear what is sounds like but observe my technique, finger changes, dynamic ranges, tempo and so on. There are many elements to performing a piece besides just playing the correct notes! Read More

Encouraging students to practice regularly and guiding students to find their musical inclinations and particular musical voices are my main teaching fortes. Read More

My teaching methods vary depending on the student's needs and musical knowledge. Normally starting with general repertoire before expanding into different genres in order to obtain a feel for each person's skill or level of understanding. If they are younger, I tend to lean towards the more conventional approach with the Bastien Piano Basics or Piano Adventures for them to grow in the fundamentals. I have found that the more interest they display for piano, the more excited they become about exploring different styles of music. Read More
