My teaching drum set experiences started over 15 years ago when I was playing many different styles of music. I wanted to be able to assist and encourage my students to be able to play drums and vibes or marimba. I try to find out what my student's goals are and try to arrange lesson plans that will work steadily towards their goals.  I try to give them knowledge about interesting facts and tips each week of something that they may not consider.  For younger students I try to show them how to practice so that they can prepare themselves appropriately each week.  Also I encourage students to use a metronome.I try to emphasize becoming adept at note reading. Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet Recorder

I typically start beginner students on the Rubank Elementary Method books for saxophone, clarinet, or flute. These books are a great way to introduce the basic mechanics of the instrument, as well as reading music. I generally like to branch out from the method books as soon as possible, by supplementing the basic reading with other technical studies and pieces. For adults and more advanced students, I like to steer the focus more in the direction of what they want to learn, while still teaching the proper fundamentals of the instrument! Read More

Working with novice piano students, I usually employ traditional method materials like Bastien or Thompson if the student is a child, and Alfred for adults. Though it is rare, and usually at the insistence of a parent, I can also use these methods with beginning guitar students.
