With beginners, I provide material that teaches about finger numbers, rhythm, note learning, and basic material. As the student progresses, I asses their learning style and provide the necessary material and suggestions as to what books and miscellaneous learning tools the student will need. My preferred method of teaching is through the book, Piano Adventures by Faber Faber. These books are divided into a lesson book, theory book, and performance book with the levels increasing from 1 to 2A to 2B and so forth. Read More

For beginning students, I usually like to start off teaching basic guitar fundamentals. We would go over guitar methods such as fingerstyle exercises, left hand exercises, chords, and basic sight-reading. After the student has considerably grasped basic fundamentals, I would start introducing repertoire appropriate for their reading level. For more advanced students, we would work on more advanced musical concepts such as phrasing, articulation, and tone control. I also try to keep my lessons relaxed and comfortable. Read More

When my students first start I start them on the Suzuki method until they get to book 4. While they are learning from that certain method I do encourage students to tell me what songs they enjoy listening to and we will choose easy versions of the song that keeps them motivated and excited. Once my students pass book 4 of Suzuki we start getting advanced music including scale books, etudes, and concertos. Read More

First of all, I would ask the student if music would be his/her career or just a hobby. If it is to be his/her career, my approach would be more theoretical. But if it would be just a hobby like mine, I would encourage the student to learn by ear supplemented with a little theory to be able to learn a musical piece or song in the shortest time possible. Instruments: Piano Violin Music
I began teaching piano and violin lessons 15 years ago and have been consistently teaching ever since. Encouraging daily practice, and helping the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument is one of the key points. While enjoyment is the number one rule, following their development and progress with certain method books are really important. I encourage my students to compose their own original material as well as participate in certification exams and recitals. Read More
Instruments: Bass Guitar
I have always found it to be fulfilling to teach bass and music theory to those who are hungry to learn. I've been teaching part-time since college to help middle school students prepare for their high school jazz band auditions, teach new professionals industry lessons on how to conduct yourself in the work environment, and even just teaching retired senior citizens how to walk a jazz blues! I love to help people get closer to their musical goals no matter what level the student is at. Read More
