For my string students, I typically use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements at first, and then I introduce the Suzuki Method for solo repertoire once they have progressed on their instruments. For my vocal students, I find what type of music my student is interested in, and I then recommend a voice book that we will pick repertoire from. For my piano students, I use the Piano Adventures series, which includes the fundamentals as well as solo repertoire. Read More

For young beginner students, I will begin with the Farber or Alfred all-in-one books. Once the student has progressed through the book, we will move on international piano books. I have used many of the pedagogy books, and I know how to find best curriculum for getting students to where they need to be technically and musically. In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement. I also spent some time giving private trombone, bass, and guitar lessons in high school. I use my students' natural strengths to help them understand the aspects of music that come less naturally to them.
