I love teaching guitar to motivated students. I have been fortunate to play and teach guitar for a living my entire life, and it is still exciting to help students find their voice on guitar. After teaching guitar for the University of Tennessee for 10 years, I moved to Nashville where I was able to tour the world playing music for 12 years. Whether playing a festival for 50,000 people on the side of a volcano in Japan, overdubbing a guitar part for a national Toyota commercial, or helping someone tune their guitar for the very first time, it is still exciting. I had worked with a public primary school’s students and had some experience to work with 6 classes (each contains 60 students) before I earned a Bachelor's Degree during required practical training. Through explaining music knowledge to children from 6-year-olds to 12-year-olds I learned to communicate with people with patient explanations and the deep understanding of people’s situations. I taught Keyboard, Baroque Harmonicas, Singing and very basic Music Theory in the primary school. Read More

Active, engaging, and of course, fun! I try to be as thorough as possible without overloading my student with information. The biggest challenge in the beginning is learning about you as a student and how you learn. Obviously learning an instrument is very aurally challenging, however there many ways of learning: aural, visual, tactile, etc. The more you know about your own preferred learning style, the more smoothly our lessons will start out. Based on my first meeting get acquainted sessions with my students, I decide what approach to take with each person. As everyone is different, I adapt my teaching to their particular personality and needs. I have a four (4) tiered approach to my lessons - there is technique development, theory, ear-training and improvisation through learning chord sets and songs in every key PLUS, of course, the playing of music. I have a very comprehensive library where a student can music of any style to supplement his or her foundational music development. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet French Horn
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Arban's Trumpet Method Book. Any brass instrument can play from this book! Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
Instruments: Flute Piccolo
I began teaching beginner students when I was 16 years old and have been doing it ever since. It's never seemed like a "job" to me. I enjoy the excitement of a first-time student making their first sound to sight-reading duets with more experienced students. I started a flute choir at a local high school and would love to start one of my own at my studio. Keeping things fun and interesting is vital to every student's success and I pride myself on getting to know each student on a personal level to achieve this goal. Read More

I have completed the "Every Child Can!" Suzuki course and it has helped define the basics of my teaching method. The method puts emphasis on bringing out the maximum potential that is within each child. There is something in education called differentiation, and this concept says that if your teaching style does not work for the student, then it is up to the teacher to change there method to fit what works best for the child.
