When it comes to teaching voice, there is no one way of doing so. Each child learns differently and each child has a different instrument, and it is most important that that be figured out first. I will generally start out with well known songs sung by ear, and then depending on the students level help them to learn to read music. I have been playing the piano for 13 years and have been teaching children and adults for the past 7 years. I teach students of almost all levels proper technique, how to read music (efficiently), practical theory and history so that students can understand what the composer was doing and how to really listen to what they are playing. My experience teaching goes back to high school in which I tutored students in multiple subjects including Spanish and English. I also would help my section to improve as a section leader. During my college years, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant which allowed me to help students primarily in music.
